Please Note: Currently, Life Possum is focussed on users located in the United Kingdom and not intended for users outside of this territory. We have lofty ambitions to serve the world but at the moment we’re offering our services only to UK residents. On that basis, all our privacy items are focussed on UK residents. If you are a resident outside of the UK, please do not create an account on your system. However do feel free to drop us a line to express your interest in Life Possum!
The different activities for which may collect Personal Data:
It is always our aim and policy to provide you with choice wherever possible about the information you share with us. For that reason, we limit the amount of mandatory fields we ask you to complete throughout your use of the system. That way, you have more choice and the details below will help to inform your choice.
However, as is the nature with technology, sometimes information may be collected about you automatically by using our services. Where this happens, this will also be detailed in the list below:
Personal data is anything that can identify an individual, either on its own or through combining it with other factors that could eventually identify an individual.
When you create an account for Life Possum
When you create an account for Life Possum, our team dance a little jig! Also, we collect some information about you.
The legal basis we rely on are Article 6(1)(a) of the GDP – Consent, Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR – Legitimate Interests and Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR – Contract.

Your name | We use your name throughout the application to make things just a whole load friendlier and personal for you. We may also use it to address you on communications and also to allow others to identify your account in the system. You’re free to use any name you like but it’s better if it’s your actual name. |
A profile picture | You can optionally provide a profile picture against your account. The profile picture is used to allow you to identify you are logged into the correct account and may also be used by others to find you in the system. If the profile picture is found by our team or other users to be offensive it may be removed. Please keep things family friendly! |
Email Address | Your email address is required in order that we may contact you about your account or updates regarding our system. |
Subscription Package Details | We will hold information about the subscription package currently associated to your account as well as historical information about prior subscription packages. |
Update time and date details | When you update your account we will hold details of any modification dates. This helps us to support you in case of any issues. |
🌍 Where we store this information
Our hosting provider, Bubble.io hosts our data in Oregon, USA using AWS (Amazon Web Services). As our data processor, Bubble.io are self-certified to the E-US Privacy Shield framework which is an agreement between the territories to ensure that a US based provider provides adequate associated protection for EU citizen’s data as a EU based provider (and in this instance, therefore provides the same privacy protection also for UK citizen’s data due to the compatabiliy of the EU data privacy legislation to the UK legislation). Our contracts with Bubble.io further assure this so you can be reassured that your data protection is enforced.

We keep your account information in Life Possum only for as long as you have an account with us. (See “When You Close Your Account on Life Possum” for information relating to account closures)
🤝 Who we might share this information with
We develop and host our systems with a cloud provider called Bubble.IO. They therefore act as our data processor (whilst we are the “controller” of your data). Your information will be held on their systems but as a processor we have agreements in place to keep your data safe and they cannot share your information in any way.
We may utilise your account information to share anonymous data for our own management purposes and with third parties including:
A) The number of accounts we have on our system
B) The number of accounts that have profiles
C) The account numbers by subscription
D) The pattern of account numbers with multiple users
E) General usage patterns by accounts and by account types
However, none of this information will allow you to be identified individually.
When you enter information into Life Possum
Our whole aim for our tool is to help you gather your information about your life so it’s important you understand what we will do with that information.

To allow you to fully make your own choices, we collect only the information that you elect to provide us – as many fields as possible in the system are made totally optional for this exact reason. If you don’t feel comfortable to provide an item of data, you should not feel obliged to provide it under any circumstances.
As you have control over the data and documents that you provide us, it is part of your contract with us that you will not provide personal information for which you do not have the permission to provide. Additionally, you must not upload documentation that is illegal or offensive in any way. To respect your privacy, we do not review the material you upload and it is your responsibility to ensure you abide by these rules. In the event that we are alerted to an upload of information which breaches our terms and conditions, we will inform the primary account holder of our findings and remove the information in a way which may not be recoverable. Further action may be required as appropriate.
Against life details you are able to upload a number of categories of information. These follow a standard structure and therefore rather than list each data item, we cover the details against the general structure below and only call out specific data items where they have any form of special treatment.

Documents – you may upload documents which can be associated to categories | We use this information to store and present back to you for your own information. We will not process the information that you provide to us to interpret the information contained within. Under exceptional circumstances we may access the documentation you provide but only where access is required to verify whether you have breached the terms and conditions of your account – for example, if we receive a report that a document breaches the terms and conditions. We additionally use the information about documentation upload numbers and sizes to verify that you remain within the usage terms of your subscription and as aggregated information regarding the overall use of our platform. |

We may share aggregated category specific information with select third-parties. However, no information provided shall be linked to you as an individual. Instead, we may utilise relationships with third-parties to provide them with aggregated insights into the data held on Life Possum such as the proportion of users with mortgage information entered, the average mortgage value, the types of energy in use, the prices being paid etc. The relationships with third parties assists not only with the supplementary funding of Life Possum but also in providing industry insights that may ultimately support the account owner. Additionally, we may receive insight from third-parties based on the aggregated information provided which helps us to provide our users with additional insights, hints and tips.
When you set up an account in the system, you may elect to have additional users with access to your details. We are not in direct control of who you had to your account (other than via subscriptions settings) or when we are compelled to intervene due to a breach (or suspected breach) of our terms and conditions. When you add additional users to your account we want to be clear that you are allowing them access to your information. We recommend that this is limited to family members and you do not provide access to third-parties.
Specific information in your account will never be shared with any third-party (other than other members of your account) without your express consent being provided online (for example via online messaging to other parties in the system or via other online “share” process). This sharing will always be made very clear to you and we will alert you to visually to shared information in the system. Such third-party access to your individual information will be totally under your control.
When you close your account on Life Possum
If you decide to close your account with Life Possum, we’ll be very sad to see you go and would really appreciate understanding why you decided to leave us. Of course, we’ll respect your decision but may decide to create a small shrine in your memory (only joking). There will be some impact on your information of course so it’s important you understand our standard process.
If you decide to cancel your account, we will retain the information only for 30 days which represents a cooling off period in case you realise you have made a terrible mistake. We wouldn’t want you to miss out. After 30 days your account information and any associated information linked to your account will be removed from the system. We will only retain a record that there was an account once upon a time which has been deleted just for our own traceability but your account details will not be retained.

When you contact us outside of our website and outside of Life Possum
Sometimes you may wish to contact us outside of our website. This is fine – we love to chat. However, we may gather some information about you. When contacting us, we do ask you not to provide any personal information other than that mentioned below.

We will store electronic communication address to “@lifepossum.com” emails addresses on our email servers which are currently hosted in Germany.

Our company retention policy is to store emails and communications for up to 5 years. After which, communications which will be deleted.
🤝 Who we might share this information with
We may share communications with our employees within Life Possum or with our suppliers with whom we have contractual agreements to protect your privacy according to our agreements with you. In situations where it may be appropriate to share your communication details outside of this core group, you will contacted and informed. The only exception to this is the case of a legal requirement to disclose information. In this case we will inform you as appropriate.
When you contact us for Support
Although our team worked very hard to make Life Possum as easy as possible to use sometimes we might get it wrong and of course, sometimes a tool just misbehaves! We understand and therefore we provide various facilities for getting help with using Life Possum. When you do so, we may gather some information about you.

🌍 Where we store this information
We utilise a digital tool to assist us with handling support requests. The supplier of this tool is Atlassian and the information you provide is currently handled in their Global data residency meaning that they select where to host the information from one of the following locations:
- Asia Pacific (Singapore and Sydney)
- Europe (Frankfurt and Ireland)
- USA (East USA and West USA)
For this reason, we request that you do not provide any sensitive personal information to us when contacting us for support.

🤝 Who we might share this information with
We may share communications with our employees within Life Possum or with our suppliers with whom we have contractual agreements to protect your privacy according to our agreements with you. Your Rights
Your personal data is yours and you have rights in relation to it. These rights include:

You have the right to ask us to rectify the personal information you think is inaccurate or to complete information you think is incomplete.
🧽 The right to erasure
You have the right to ask that we delete your information. However we may continue to keep your information if we’re entitled or required to retain it.
🚫 The right to restrict processing
You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information for a duration of time, in some circumstances.
✈️ The right to data portability
You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to someone else, in some circumstances.
